I love the Wanganui district. After my urban upbringing, I married Clive, from a long-standing Wanganui farming family. Together, we have developed both our Fordell farm and our nationally awarded Paloma Gardens.
I am also involved in other busines ventures, as well as being a current Wanganui Distrct Councillor. |

Shelley Dew-Hopkins JP, MBS (Management)
Shelley has had extensive involvement in rural leadership roles including four years as Provincial President of Manawatu/Rangitikei Federated Farmers. Other previous governance roles include nine years as a Trustee Manawatu Accommodation Supported Housing Trust and various other community, education and health committees.
Currently, Shelley is a ministerial appointment to the Governance group of the Telecommunication Dispute Resolution Scheme, an elected representative to the Patea Community Board and Chair’s the Ballance Farm Environment Awards committee for the Manawatu/Wanganui region.
Shelley and her husband Ian Hopkins own a mixed farming business comprising of dairy, deer, sheep, beef and cropping in the Waverley area.

Mr Ron E Hussey
Ron transferred to Wanganui in 1984 and retired as Manager of Westpac 2002 after nearly 40 years in banking, spread between BNZ, Trustbank and Westpac.
While living in Wanganui and raising two children Ron and his wife, Lyn have been active in sports coaching with involvement in Junior cricket, rugby, badminton and golf. They are now fully engaged in Wanganui Golf Club administration, where Ron was elected President in 2008.
Ron and Lyn own a small lifestyle property on which they grow asparagus and Christmas lilies for local markets and run a few sheep.

Mr Nygllhuw (Nigel) Morris
Nygllhuw has lived in Wanganui for over 35 years. A former Wanganui High School student, Nigel worked for almost 20 years at Wanganui District Council. In 1984 he started a graphic design and marketing company called Sharper Images Ltd. In 2001 Nigel left Council to work full time in private business. At this time he purchased a local company called Kiwiwebs Limited. In 2007 Nygllhuw also formed Animal Register Limited to manage the New Zealand Companion Animal Register. In 2009 he started two companies, with long-time friend Ed Boyd. These are Wanganui Heritage Coachlines and Wanganui.com Limited.
Married to Julie who is Wanganui born and bred, with one daughter, Jadzia, he is passionate about Wanganui and its future. Has a plaque in Majestic Square that reads "proud to live, work and grow in Wanganui."

I have a background of banking, and farming, followed by my now occupation of retailing, owning my own business, which is a bookshop and garden centre.At present I chair the Hunterville Community Committee, co-ordinator of the Rangitikei Horticultural Group, and am also on other committees. I am a widow with 4 children and 8 grandchildren. Am also a Justice of the Peace and a Marriage and Funeral Celebrant. Soon to celebrate my 60'th with a family and friends bash, better than a funeral!! |
