Donations Application Criteria
Region
Applications can be considered from groups and organisations carrying out their activities in the geographical area of the former Wanganui Rangitikei Electric Power Board, comprising Wanganui, Rangitikei, Waverley and Waimarino, excluding Ohakune.
Organisations
Application organisations must be essentially charitable in nature and be providing services which will benefit the general public either directly or indirectly within the Trust’s area.
Donation Purpose
Projects for which funds are requested must provide clear service benefits to the community and be seen as providing a significant community development in the local area.
Applications may be made for the following
- Organisations providing care, training or advice for youth.
- Charitable organisations providing care for the elderly, the disabled or the disadvantaged.
- Sports associations benefiting their sports area will be preferred over individual sports clubs.
Applications from churches will be preferred to be for joint ventures with other churches rather than for the benefit of one church group only.
Applications from schools for educational and training equipment will be preferred over sports equipment. Applications for schools must be made by their Board of Trustees.
Donations must be for physical items and projects necessary in achieving the organisation’s charitable purpose.
Donations will not normally be made for operational or running expenses, such as wages, rent, travel, conference costs etc.
Donations will be favourable considered for projects involving the use and/or more efficient use of electricity or energy resources.
Application Procedures
Application closing dates are 28 February, 30 June and 31 October each year. The outcome of most applications will be advised within a month following closing date.
Any applications involving the purchase or computer equipment or photocopiers must be accompanied by a separate completed questionnaire, available from the Secretary, to enable the trustees to assess this type of application.
Donations approved will be paid out when the Secretary of the Trust has received appropriate documentation confirming the project and expenditure has been undertaken.
Donations funds must be uplifted within 12 months of approval or the donation offer will be withdrawn. An extension of time may be granted upon written request to the Trust giving reasons for the delay.
These criteria are guidelines only, and do not bind or commit the Trustees in the consideration of applications. |
